Thornton in Craven is a beautiful rural village set in the rolling green Yorkshire countryside.

Within the village itself, the 15th century church, dedicated to Saint Mary, and featuring original 17th century pews, is a historic building well worth a visit.

For walkers the renowned Pennine Way, much loved by those who enjoy hill walking in natural surroundings, is only a short distance away.

Those preferring a more relaxing holiday will find many things to see and do within easy driving distance including the stunning cliffs of Malham Cove, the beautiful Ingleton Waterfalls, Bolton Priory and Haworth, the home of the Brontes, with its original cobbled streets.

In nearby Skipton, known as ‘the gateway to the Yorkshire Dales’ you can enjoy a tour round one of the most complete medieval castles in England.  Skipton Castle, despite being over 900 years old, is superbly preserved and should be on everyone’s itinerary.

Browse round Skipton’s famous open-air market, go horse riding or take a boat trip on the local canal - The area offers a multitude of interesting things to see and do that will suit every age group.
